2013 // In Review

“Ever poised on that cusp between past and future, we tie memories to souvenirs like string to trees along life’s path, marking the trail in case we lose ourselves around a bend of tomorrow’s road.” – Susan Lendroth

2013 is over and a new year is about to begin… it is that time again, a time when we people examine the good and the bad of our past year, and remember all that we have lived for… it is a time when hope for the future is at its brightest!

the highlights of my 2013 are as follows…

+ January // turned nineteen with the help of my best friend

+ February // traveled across the pond and fulfilled many dreams

+ March // received notification of my acceptance to the gcu honors institute

+ April // spent a happy month discovering hardbound adventures and laughing with my funny people

“Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music, perhaps . . . perhaps . . . love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.” – Anne of Avonlea

“I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right.” – The Book Thief

+ May // went home

“Where we love is home,
Home that the feet may leave,
but not our hearts.”
– Oliver Wendell Holmes

+ June // spent a silly summertime with my beautiful family

+ July // returned to the desert and spent some time simply thinking, reading, and living life with my funny people

+ August // left home to start university living and moved in with these gems

+ September // struggled through my first month of full-time college, straightened my hair, discovered a lifelong best friend in this beauty

+ October // learned that despite all previous misconceptions, it’s not so hard to have female best friends

+ November // made it to Thanksgiving break and spent some quality time with new friends and my beautiful family

+ December // said “goodbye until next year” to these beauties, spent a joyous week with my very best friend in all the world, had a very merry christmas and celebration of our jesus with my funny people, and found out that somehow i survived my first semester of college with a 3.94 gpa
